The camera knows not just THAT something moved, but exactly HOW FAR AWAY it was, and it draws the actual walking path your visitor took on an overhead map under every recorded clip.
Like the Wired Plus, the Pro hardwires into 120-volt house electricity at your existing outdoor junction box (where an old floodlight or weatherproof outlet currently lives). 1 Setting up 3D Motion Zones so cars stop triggering it
- Ring app → your Floodlight Cam Pro → Settings (gear) → Motion Settings → 3D Motion Zones.
- Instead of flat shapes, you'll see a top-down map of your property with a distance scale.
- Drag the boundary out to where you actually want alerts — typically the edge of your driveway, not the street.
- Anything past that line gets ignored. The neighbor walking down the sidewalk? Silent.
- If still noisy, drop Motion Sensitivity one notch toward Min.
2 Turning on Bird's Eye View
- Ring app → your camera → Settings → Motion Settings → Bird's Eye View → toggle ON.
- Wait for the next motion clip. An overhead map appears below the video showing the walking path your visitor took.
- Pinch to zoom; tap the line to scrub through the timeline.
- Requires a Ring Protect subscription ($4.99/mo) for the saved-clip overlay. Live view shows real-time without it.
3 Camera shows "Offline" in the Ring app
- Test your home Wi-Fi from a phone in the same room. Whole house offline = restart your modem and router; the camera follows within 5 minutes.
- Ring app → Device Health → Signal Strength. Worse than -70 = weak signal. The Pro is dual-band, so try switching to your 5 GHz network if the outdoor box is close to the router, or a mesh point if it's not.
- Flip the camera's breaker OFF for 60 seconds, then back ON. Wait 2 minutes for full boot.
- Still offline: factory-reset (20-second hold on the camera's reset button) and re-pair.
4 Color Night Vision looks black-and-white at night
- Color Night Vision needs SOME ambient light to work — a porch light, streetlight, or neighbor's window.
- In pitch dark with zero light, the camera falls back to black-and-white infrared automatically. That's by design.
- Confirm it's enabled: Settings → Video Settings → Color Night Vision → ON.
- If you want color clips, leave a low-wattage porch light on a dusk-to-dawn sensor. Even 15 watts is enough.
5 Audio+ two-way talk sounds great but I want to disable audio entirely
- Audio+ is the Pro's noise-suppression feature — it filters wind and traffic from both sides of the call. It's on automatically with no setting.
- To disable audio recording entirely (for privacy or visitor preference): Settings → Video Settings → Audio Streaming and Recording → toggle off.
- Ohio is a one-party-consent state for audio, so recording it with video is legal. A small "audio & video recorded" notice near the door is the polite move either way.
6 Do I really need a Ring Protect subscription?
- Without one, the Pro does not save any video and Bird's Eye View clips don't get the path overlay. You see live alerts, but if you don't open the app at the right moment, the clip is gone.

- Don't push through the install — a fault inside the camera can energize the metal frame.
- Call a licensed electrician to add a ground, or call me to handle the whole job.
