Terms of Service
What I do, what I don't, how I price it, and what to expect.
Effective: May 2026 · Last updated: 2026-05-05
Who I am
"Bill's Home Tech" or "we" or "I" means Bill's Home Tech, LLC, an Ohio limited liability company at Atwater, Ohio. "You" means the person booking the service or the person whose home is being visited.
What I do
I provide in-home consumer technology setup, configuration, training, and troubleshooting. Typical work includes Wi-Fi setup, device setup and training (phones, tablets, computers, printers, TVs, streaming devices), smart-home installation (voice assistants, plugs, locks, thermostats, doorbells, cameras), and education about online safety and scam protection. The full list lives at /services.html and on my Square booking page.
What I don't do
- I don't repair broken hardware (cracked screens, dead drives, water damage).
- I don't recover data from failed drives.
- I don't remove active virus / malware infections — I'll refer you to a security specialist.
- No guaranteed emergency service, but same-day sometimes possible — call. I schedule in advance, usually within 2–3 days.
- I don't sell monitoring contracts, IT managed services, or recurring tech subscriptions outside the optional Monthly Support Plan.
If you ask for one of those, I'll tell you and refer you to a trusted local pro.
Pricing
Standard in-home visits are $99 flat per-visit. Up to 3 hours; if it runs long, it's still $99 — no tiers, no surprises. That covers the diagnosis, the fix, a plain-English explanation, and a 30-day come-back-free follow-up. You always know the price before I start.
The optional Monthly Support Plan is $39/month plus applicable Ohio sales tax (about $41.73/month total), billed via Square. There is no contract — cancel anytime by calling, texting, or emailing. You're only charged for the months you've used.
30-day follow-up
Every paid visit comes with a 30-day follow-up. If something I set up stops working in those 30 days, call me and I'll come back at no extra charge. The follow-up covers what we worked on at the visit — not new problems, new devices, or things you've changed since I left.
Satisfaction promise
If you're not satisfied with a visit, tell me at the visit or within 7 days. I will either come back and try again at no charge, or refund the visit. I'd rather refund a customer than have them tell their neighbors I did a bad job.
Payment
Payment is due at the end of the visit. I accept cash, credit/debit card (via Square in your home), or by phone if a family member is paying for a parent's visit. I never store your card number — Square handles that.
Cancellation & rescheduling
If you need to cancel or move a visit, please give me at least 24 hours' notice — call or text (330) 200-8042. No fee for one missed visit. After that, I may ask for a small fee on future no-shows (you'll know upfront).
SMS / Text Messages
If you book a visit through my Calendly page and check the consent box, I'll send you a couple of texts so we stay on the same page about your appointment.
- What I send: an appointment confirmation, a day-before reminder, and an "on my way" message — about 2–4 texts per appointment. I don't send marketing texts.
- Cost: standard message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
- Opt out: reply STOP to any text from me to opt out at any time.
- Help: reply HELP, or call/text (330) 200-8042.
Saying yes to texts isn't a condition of booking. You can revoke consent any time without affecting your service.
Your mobile info isn't shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your opt-in data and consent aren't shared with any third party.
See the Privacy Policy for how I handle your phone number and other data.
What's not included
Hardware (routers, smart-home devices, cables, batteries, etc.) is not included in the $99 visit unless you buy it from me. I'm happy to recommend specific products and bring them with me — those are billed separately at cost or near-cost via the Shop.
Your home
I treat your home like it's my mother's. I wear shoe covers if requested, I work cleanly, and I don't bring helpers without telling you first. If anything goes wrong (rare — but I'm human), I'm fully insured and we'll make it right.
Insurance
Bill's Home Tech, LLC carries $1M general liability + $1M errors & omissions (both with $2M aggregate) through Next Insurance. A Certificate of Insurance is available on request — just ask.
Limits of liability
I provide setup, configuration, and training. I am not responsible for hardware failures of devices I didn't sell, problems caused by your internet provider, or issues caused by changes you (or anyone else) make after I leave. My total liability for any single visit is capped at the amount you paid for that visit, plus what insurance covers in the case of physical damage. Talk to an attorney if you want a more detailed liability framework.
Warranty disclaimer
Tech-help work is provided "as is." I do my best to set things up right and I stand behind my work for 30 days. Beyond that, devices and software change, internet providers go down, and I can't guarantee a setup will keep working forever. The Monthly Support Plan is the way to keep me in your corner past 30 days.
Disputes
If you have a complaint, please call me first. Most things get sorted out in five minutes. If we can't resolve it that way, the courts of Portage County, Ohio have jurisdiction. We'll always try to talk it out before anything formal.
Changes
If I update these Terms in a way that affects how I work, the "Last updated" date at the top changes and I'll mention it on the website.
