Security Camera Setup — Placed Right, On Your Phone, Alerts That Make Sense
A doorbell camera still in the box, cameras pointed at the wrong spot, or an app full of alerts for every passing car. I set them up where they actually help, get the live view onto your phone, and tune the alerts so they mean something.
$99 flat in your home · $49 flat remote screen-share · no contracts, no hourly billing
Why most home cameras disappoint (and how to get it right)
Cameras fail people for simple reasons: they're aimed too high or too wide, the Wi-Fi doesn't reach where they're mounted, or the alerts are so constant that everyone stops looking. Getting it right is mostly about placement, a solid signal, and sensible motion zones — not about buying the most expensive gear. I'll set up what you have (or help you pick something that fits), put it where it earns its keep, and make sure you can actually pull it up on your phone when it matters.
What the flat fee covers
One price for the whole visit — diagnosis, the fix, and a plain-English walkthrough. Here's what's included:
- Camera & doorbell placement — aimed at the door, driveway, or package spot that matters.
- App setup & sign-in — on your phone and tablet, with the live view working.
- Motion alerts & zones — tuned so you're notified about people, not every passing car.
- Wi-Fi check at the camera — making sure the signal actually reaches where it's mounted.
- Sharing with family — so a spouse or an out-of-state child can view too, if you want.
- 30-day phone follow-up — included, no charge.
What's not included (I'll tell you straight)
- —The cameras, doorbell, or wiring themselves — I quote hardware at retail first, no markup.
- —Running new low-voltage or electrical wiring in walls — that's a licensed installer's job; I'll point you to one.
- —Monitored alarm service or professional monitoring contracts — I set up self-monitored cameras you control.
The camera problems I fix most
Ring, Arlo, Blink, Wyze, Nest, Eufy — I've set up all the common ones.
📦 Doorbell camera still in the box
I mount or set it up, connect it to Wi-Fi, get it on your phone, and show you how to answer the door from anywhere.
🎯 Camera pointed at the wrong thing
Aimed too high, too wide, or at the neighbor's yard. I reposition so it covers the door, driveway, or package spot.
🔔 Too many pointless alerts
A notification for every car and shadow means you stop looking. I set motion zones so you're told about what matters.
📶 Camera keeps going offline
Usually weak Wi-Fi where it's mounted. I check the signal and add coverage so it stays connected.
📱 Can't see it on my phone
App sign-in trouble or the wrong account. I get the live view and recordings onto your phone and tablet.
👨👩👧 Want family to see it too
I set up sharing so a spouse or an out-of-state son or daughter can check in — with your permission and control.
Common questions
How much does camera setup cost?
$99 flat for an in-home visit — placement, app setup, alerts, and getting the live view on your phone, for up to three hours. If it's an app sign-in or settings problem on cameras already mounted, I can often help by screen-share for $49. The cameras themselves are quoted at retail first, no markup.
Which cameras do you work with?
The common ones — Ring, Arlo, Blink, Wyze, Nest, Eufy, and most Wi-Fi doorbells and cameras. If you haven't bought yet, I'll help you pick something that fits your home and budget rather than the most expensive option.
Can you help with cameras without coming out?
For app sign-ins, sharing with family, and alert settings on cameras that are already mounted, I can connect by screen-share for a flat $49. Placement, mounting, and Wi-Fi-at-the-camera problems need an in-home visit.
Will my cameras record and keep video?
Depends on the brand — some record to the cloud (sometimes with a subscription), some to a local base station or card. I'll explain in plain English what yours does, what any subscription actually costs, and set it up the way you want.
Can my kids see the cameras from out of state?
Yes, if you want them to. I can set up shared access so a family member can view the live feed and alerts — entirely with your permission and under your control. It's a common request from families keeping an eye on a parent's home.
