Privacy Policy
What I collect, how I use it, and how to make it go away.
Effective: May 2026 · Last updated: 2026-06-02
The short version
I'm a one-person tech-help business in Atwater, Ohio. I collect the bare minimum information needed to help you — your name, your contact info, what you need help with, and a record of the work I did. I don't sell your information to anyone. I don't share it with marketers. I don't track you across the web. If you want anything I have on you deleted, just call.
What I collect
When you contact me through the website form, by phone, or in person, I may collect:
- Your name
- Your phone number and/or email address
- Your service address (so I can come to your home)
- A description of what you need help with
- Notes from the visit (what I did, what to follow up on)
- Payment confirmation (handled by Square — see "Payment" below)
How I use it
- To respond to your inquiry and schedule a visit.
- To do the actual tech-help work and follow up at 30 days.
- To send a one-off email if I find something at your visit you should know about (e.g. "the router we discussed is finally on sale").
- To keep simple records for tax / insurance purposes (required by law).
What I don't do
- I don't sell your information. To anyone. Ever.
- I don't sell your data or use it to retarget you across the internet. (I do run a small Facebook ad for the business and use basic analytics — see "Cookies" below for the details.)
- I don't store your passwords. If you share one with me during a visit, I recommend you change it before I leave.
- I don't keep payment-card numbers — those are handled by Square (a major payment processor) and never touch my computer.
- I don't send marketing emails unless you specifically opt in to a tip-of-the-month newsletter.
Cookies
This site uses Cloudflare Zaraz to run two analytics tools server-side: Google Analytics 4 (to understand which pages people read) and the Meta Pixel (for accountability on the Facebook ad I run for this business). Both run at the Cloudflare edge — no third-party JavaScript or tracking pixels load in your browser, so ad blockers and iOS privacy features don't block them, and the data sent is the same minimum either tool would collect. No personal data is sent to Google or Meta unless you submit a form. The only browser cookie this site sets is a small session cookie if you submit the contact form (to prevent duplicate submissions).
Payment
Payments are processed by Square (a Block, Inc. company). Bill never sees your full card number. Square has its own privacy policy at squareup.com/legal/privacy.
Remote sessions
For remote screen-share help, I use a trusted tool called Zoho Assist. Here's exactly how your privacy is handled:
You start it, not me. A remote session only ever begins from a call you place to me at (330) 200-8042. I text or email you a secure one-time link, you click it, and your computer asks your permission before I can see anything. Nothing happens until you say yes. I will never call you out of the blue asking to get on your screen.
You're in control the whole time. You watch everything I do on your screen, we stay on the phone together, and you can end the session whenever you like.
Your sessions are not recorded. I don't record or save a video of your screen. When we hang up, the connection closes, nothing stays running on your device, and I don't keep a copy of anything.
Outbound transactional email from bill@billshometech.com (booking confirmations, day-before reminders, on-my-way notifications) is sent through Resend. Bill's main inbox runs on standard email infrastructure. Don't send sensitive information (Social Security numbers, full credit cards, medical records) over email — call instead.
SMS / Text Messages
If you book a visit, I'll send you a couple of text messages so we both stay on the same page about your appointment.
How you opt in: You opt in to text messages by entering your phone number on the booking form at billshometech.com/book/ and submitting it. The form's consent line tells you what you're agreeing to.
What I send: Once you book, I'll text you a reminder the day before your appointment and an "on my way" message the day of. Expect about 2 text messages per appointment. I don't send marketing texts or newsletters.
Cost: Standard message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
How to stop: Reply STOP to any text from me to opt out at any time. Reply HELP for help, or call/text (330) 200-8042. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchase. You can revoke consent at any time without affecting your service.
Sharing: Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All categories of information exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Children
This is a service for adults. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you're a parent and you think your child contacted me, just let me know and I'll delete it.
Your rights — Ohio & beyond
You can ask, at any time, to:
- See what I have on file about you.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Have it deleted (subject to the bookkeeping records I'm legally required to keep for tax/insurance — usually 7 years).
- Stop contacting you for any reason.
Just email bill@billshometech.com or call (330) 200-8042 and ask. I'll handle it within 7 days.
Changes to this policy
If I update this policy in a way that affects existing customers, I'll email you. The "Last updated" date at the top will always be current.
