The iPhone 17 Pro Max at a Glance

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is a phone many people already own. It's still capable and runs the latest Apple software — but Apple no longer sells it new, so if you're shopping today, read the buying note below. Here's everything in plain English.

Common Questions

1 What makes the iPhone 17 Pro Max special?

Here's what's worth knowing, in plain English:

  1. Outstanding battery life Apple called it the best battery life ever in an iPhone at its 2025 launch — up to about 39 hours of video. In plain terms, it rarely needs a mid-day charge.
  2. A big, easy-to-read screen At 6.9 inches it's a large screen that's wonderful for reading and video, especially at bigger text sizes.
  3. Three cameras with real long-distance zoom The same strong three-camera system as the 17 Pro, including a zoom lens that reaches far without losing much quality.

2 Is the iPhone 17 Pro Max right for me?

It's a great fit for someone who already owns one — it's still excellent — or a bargain-hunter who finds a trustworthy refurbished one and wants a big screen with great battery.

Consider a different model if: If you're buying NEW today, get the current iPhone 18 Pro Max instead, or the regular iPhone 17 for less — both are sold new with full warranties.

3 Should I buy this, or something newer?

If you already own an iPhone 17 Pro Max, you're in great shape — big screen, superb battery, latest software — with no need to rush an upgrade. If you're shopping NEW, get the current iPhone 18 Pro Max (or save with the regular iPhone 17), because Apple no longer sells the 17 Pro Max new. A refurbished one can be a good deal, but buy only from a reputable seller with a warranty and returns — never a stranger online.

Apple stopped selling the 17 Pro Max new when the iPhone 18 Pro Max arrived in September 2026. You may still find it refurbished or through a carrier, and many people own one. It launched at $1,199; any price now is a resale or refurbished price, so check carefully.

4 How do I move everything from my old phone?

From another iPhone, Apple's Quick Start does the heavy lifting: turn on the new phone, set it beside the old one, and follow the prompts — your photos, contacts and messages come across. Coming from an Android phone takes a bit more care, and that's one of my most common calls.

Switching phones, or want someone there for the setup? My $99 first visit covers it — transfer, Apple Account, email, contacts, the works. (330) 200-8042.

5 How do I make it easier to see and hear?

Open Settings > Display & Brightness > Text Size and drag the slider; turn on Bold Text for heavier letters. For much bigger text, use Settings > Accessibility > Larger Text. Turn on captions for videos, and know the phone works with many hearing aids. If a full iPhone feels like too much, Assistive Access switches it to a big-button, large-text layout.

6 How do I stay safe from scams?

Your phone is safe; the tricks come by text, email and call. Apple will never call, text or email to say your account is locked or you owe money — that's always a scam. Never read back a code someone sent you, and never let anyone rush you into gift cards or quick payments. When in doubt, hang up and call someone you trust — including me.

Want Me to Set It Up?

Setting up a new phone is one of my most-requested house calls. I bring the patience and the cables — you keep your seat. We'll move everything over, get email and contacts working, walk through the features, and set up the accessibility and safety options that help. $99 flat, and every visit is 30-day come-back-free. Would you rather I just do this for you?

No shame in it — plenty of folks would rather hand it off, and that's what I'm here for. I'll come to your home, set it up right, and make sure it's working before I leave. Flat $99 per visit — no jargon, no upsell, and every visit is 30-day come-back-free.

Not a hardware job? I can often fix it remotely for $49 — a secure screen-share, up to 2 hours, that you watch the whole time and can end whenever (included free for $39/mo Support Plan members, and it counts toward the $99 if it turns out I need to come out).
