About Your Chromecast with Google TV

Chromecast with Google TV is Google's answer to Roku — a small puck-shaped device with HDMI pigtail and a tiny remote. Runs Google TV OS with personalized recommendations. The casting feature (the original Chromecast use case) is still there — fling content from your phone to the TV. Common with Google-ecosystem households (Pixel, Google Home). One thing to know: Google stopped selling the Chromecast with Google TV in 2025 and replaced it with a newer box called the Google TV Streamer (about $99.99). If you already own a Chromecast, it still works and still gets updates — so everything below still applies.

When to skip the DIY and just call: Customer Google account security · Whole-house casting setup.
