About Your Arlo Pro 5S 2K

Arlo Pro 5S is a high-end battery wireless camera. 2K resolution, color night vision, two-way talk. Requires the SmartHub or direct connect to router. Most home installs are wireless to Arlo SmartHub (a small base station in the house). Subscription required for recording history (Arlo Secure, from $7.99/month). Note: Arlo has since replaced the Pro 5S with the newer Arlo Pro (6th Gen) and Pro XL (6th Gen) — but if you already own a Pro 5S, everything in this guide still applies.

Common Questions

1 Camera offline

  1. Sync the camera to hub: hub sync button, then camera sync button.
  2. Replace/charge battery.
  3. Move camera closer to hub temporarily to re-sync.

2 Short battery

  1. Reduce sensitivity.
  2. Smaller activity zones.
  3. Arlo Solar Panel ($60) for trickle.
  4. Cold weather = much shorter life.

3 No recording

  1. Arlo Secure subscription required.
  2. Check expiration in Arlo app → settings → Subscriptions.

4 SmartHub offline

  1. Power-cycle hub.
  2. Ethernet cable + router check.
  3. Hub LED solid white = good. Amber = problem.

5 Two-way audio cut

  1. Arlo app → camera → settings → Audio → enable Two-Way.
  2. Battery too low for two-way audio sometimes.
