2 Why does a long, thin cable lose power?
Power fades as it travels down a wire, and a long, skinny one loses more along the way — that's voltage drop. Picture a weak dribble at the end of a long, narrow hose. A shorter run or a thicker cable fixes it.
3 How thick a cable do I need?
It depends on the distance. Longer runs want a thicker, lower-gauge cable to hold onto your power (with gauge, a smaller number means a thicker wire). When you're between two sizes for a real reach, size up — you'll never regret the heftier one.
4 Can I run the cable under a rug or through a doorway?
