A red light or an app alert makes anyone's heart sink — but many are harmless and self-clearing, and the rest just mean 'call the installer.' Here's how to tell. Questions? (330) 200-8042.

Inverter Alerts, at a Glance

A red light or app alert makes your heart sink — but take a breath. Alerts fall into a few familiar categories: grid-related (usually a utility wobble that clears itself), communication (usually your internet), temperature and low-light (usually harmless), and safety faults like ground or arc fault (which mean stop and call a pro). Always capture the exact message, never open the inverter, and let your senses override any screen — smoke or burning means 911 first. This guide explains it all. There's a printable 29-page version up top.

Common Questions

1 My inverter has a red light — is it broken?

Not necessarily. Many alerts are temporary — a grid wobble, a hot afternoon, dim light, or an internet drop — and clear on their own. Note the message, rule out the grid and internet, and call for anything that persists.

2 The app says communication error or offline — what's wrong?

Usually your home internet or Wi-Fi is down, so the monitoring lost touch while the panels keep working. Check the internet first; the alert typically clears when it's back.

3 What alerts should I take seriously right away?

Safety faults — ground fault, arc fault, isolation fault — mean stop and call your installer promptly. And any smoke, burning smell, or scorching means call 911 first.

4 Should I keep clearing an alert that comes back?

No. A recurring alert is a message that something needs attention — like a smoke detector you shouldn't just silence. Note the pattern and call your installer instead of dismissing it repeatedly.

5 Why won't you list the exact error codes?

Every maker uses its own codes, and there are far too many to list — listing some could mislead you about another brand. The categories here cover almost everything; your manual or installer decodes your specific one.

6 Can I fix an alert myself?

You can safely rule out the grid and internet and wait out clearly temporary ones. Anything hands-on — opening the inverter, wiring, safety faults — is a licensed pro's job. Read it and call.
