Monitoring, at a Glance

Almost every modern solar system can show you what it's doing — your production, often your home's use, and your battery — on a phone app or website, usually reported through the inverter. For most folks a glance once a month is plenty: enough to confirm production looks right for the season. Big swings with weather and season are normal; a sudden clear-day drop or a full year below estimate is worth a closer look — from the app and a phone call, never the roof. There's a printable 29-page version up top.

Common Questions

1 How often should I check my solar monitoring?

For most folks, a glance once a month is plenty — just to confirm production looks right for the season — plus a peek before or after a big storm. The system runs itself; you don't have to supervise it.

2 My app shows low production — is something broken?

Usually not. Cloudy days, winter, and snow-covered panels all mean lower numbers, and that's normal. Look closer only if output drops suddenly on clear days or a full year is well below estimate — then call your installer.

3 The app shows no data. Did my system fail?

Probably not. A blank app often means the monitoring lost its internet connection while your panels keep making power the whole time. Try a router restart or call your installer — it's usually a reporting glitch, not a power problem.

4 What does the monitoring actually show?

Your production over time, often your home's use and net flow to or from the grid, and — if you have one — your battery's charge. Mostly you just watch production against the season and the year.

5 I'm not good with apps — can I still keep track?

Yes. Most monitoring works from a computer browser too, you can set up email alerts, or share access with a family member. And the system works fine whether or not you ever look — lean on your installer or me anytime.

6 Should I check the roof if production looks off?

No — never climb up. Investigate from the app and by calling your installer. The system carries real electricity and the roof is no place to poke around. Our troubleshooting guide covers the common, harmless causes.

Would You Rather I Just Help?
